Ficus bonsai is another of the series of “large” bonsai paintings. Common to the warmer areas, the ficus makes me nostalgic for my youth in Brisbane, Queensland. I’ve always loved the way the aerial roots are fighting to find the ground, juxtaposing the trunk that’s fighting upwards for the sun. The way the aerial roots cross over the buttress roots makes for an interesting bonsai.

This piece is made from premium acrylic paints, paint skins, and is framed in sustainable oak.
